Privacy Notice

1. Who is responsible for your data
Mateo Jack Porcelli, trading as nestBooks ("nestBooks", "we", "us"), is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at support@getnestbooks.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data — your name, email address, and login credentials, used to create and secure your account.
- Your bookkeeping data — the transactions, accounts, customers, invoices, team members, and other records you enter, used to provide the Service.
- Support messages — emails and messages you send us, used to respond and improve the Service.
- Usage and device data — pages visited, feature usage, browser and device identifiers, and IP address, used for security, fraud prevention, and product improvement.
Payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number.
3. Why we use it (legal bases)
- Performing our contract with you — creating your account, providing the bookkeeping features, syncing your data, and customer support.
- Legitimate interests — securing the Service, preventing fraud and abuse, and improving the product.
- Consent — where we ask for it, for example for optional marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligations — keeping records required by tax or other laws.
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers — hosting, database, and email delivery providers who process data on our behalf under contract.
- Stripe (payment processor) — for payment processing, subscription management, tax calculation, and receipts.
- Professional advisers — lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Authorities — where we are required to by law.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When it is no longer needed — for example after you close your account and any export window has passed — we delete or anonymize it, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email support@getnestbooks.com. We respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
7. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and row-level isolation of each account's records. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever suffer a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences — these are required for the Service to work. We do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers. You can clear cookies in your browser settings, but signing in will no longer persist if you block essential storage.
10. Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. If we make a material change, we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.
